Hyundai, Genesis EV owners are getting free NACS adapters for Tesla Superchargers

Starting today, all Hyundai and Genesis EV drivers are gaining access to over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers. That’s right, the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Kona Electric, and even the OG IONIQ Electric hatchback can charge up at Tesla’s fast-charging network. Genesis GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80 drivers are also gaining access. Hyundai will begin shipping free NACS adapters soon. Here’s how you can snag yours.

Hyundai EV owners can get a free Tesla NACS adapter

Hyundai is on a roll. After revealing a landmark $21 billion investment in the US on Monday, it’s now unlocking access to the largest, most reliable DC fast-charging network in the US for its EV drivers.

“Starting today, more Hyundai EV customers will have access to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America,” Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai Motor North America’s senior vice president, said after making the announcement on Tuesday. That’s nearly double the amount current drivers have access to.

Hyundai IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Kona Electric, and IONIQ hatch owners who bought or leased their vehicle on or before January 31, 2025, can get a free NACS adapter to charge up at Tesla Superchargers.

Genesis GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80 drivers are also eligible for the free adapter. Starting the week of April 7, you will receive an email with instructions on how to redeem yours. Hyundai is offering one free NACS adapter for each vehicle.

To receive the free unit, you will need an account on MyHyundai. Once registered, make sure to click the option to receive emails. You must complete the process within 60 days of receiving the email. Here are Hyundai’s instructions:

How eligible owners can receive a fast-charging adapter:

  1. Own an eligible Hyundai EV that was purchased/leased on or before January 31, 2025.
  2. Have an active MyHyundai.com owner’s account and have opted into receiving emails.
  3. Eligible, contactable customers will receive an email from Hyundai beginning the week of April 7 to verify that their customer account information (shipping address, vehicle model, vehicle model year) is correct.
  4. Customers must review and confirm the adapter offer and adapter usage terms and conditions.
  5. If the customer agrees to the terms and conditions and confirms the shipping address is correct, then the customer can click ‘Yes, the above information is correct’ and an adapter will be shipped to that address.
  6. If the shipping address is not correct, then the customer can click ‘No, the above information is incorrect’ and will be directed to MyHyundai.com to update the customer’s shipping address. Updated addresses may take up to a week for a customer to receive a new email to redeem.
  7. Eligible customers will then receive a confirmation email and a subsequent email containing a tracking number once the adapter has shipped.

Hyundai specifically designed the adapter for reliable charging at V3 Tesla Superchargers and other NACS DC fast-charging stations.

Like the upgraded 2025 IONIQ 5 and Hyundai’s first three-row electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, all new EVs will include a built-in NACS port for charging at Tesla’s Superchargers.

For those looking to upgrade or go electric with Hyundai, the company launched a promo earlier this month. It gives those who buy or lease a 2024 or 2025 IONIQ 5 or IONIQ 6 model a free ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger to get you started.
